Firstly GET PORTAL PRELUDE I havent played it yet but apperently its amazing. Im still 165th in line on the europe-UK server… sigh.
Next here are some useful Pocket PC programs:
- Spb Insight: This will let you download rss feeds to your PPC, a quick download in the morning and I can read the feeds for the rest of that day. I found it will get the comics for Least I Could Do and Looking For Group but not Ctrl-Alt-Del. If you dont read them then you should cause your missing out!
- Spb PocketPlus: It provides handy links on the main screen of your PPC including battery life indication and screen brightness. You can access almost everything from there, even a soft reset.
There are others from the Spb line but those are the two i have found most useful.
I recently set up a download machine in a different location and needed a way to remotely start downloads. This easiest way was to use realvnc to connect and control the computer, this way i could start downloads remotely. However because i have a pocket pc, the Dell Axim x51v, i wanted to control it from that as well. After a failed attempt, where the program started up but didn’t connect i found VNC Viewer.
This page has information on the program:
http://dotnetvnc.sourceforge.net/
This is the direct link from sourceforge:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/dotnetvnc/vncviewer-bin-1.0.1.zip?modtime=1109511959&big_mirror=0
Drag the vncviewer.exe file from the folder to your pocket pc. Run it, enter the connection details and there you go, VNC for your pocket pc!
EVE Online is a game that i tend to play on and off, for a couple of months at a time. One great aspect of the game is pirating, the ability to shoot any other player for any real reason (if any). However there are those with more bullets than brain cells, my best example of this came a while ago.
Me and my friend were sat it a low sec station, minding our own business, when a gang of pirates decided to ransom to the victim in the local chat system instead of a private conversation. Naturally we decided to to have some fun with it:
bulebolt > ok how much 2 save my ship
illy111 > 20 mil
bulebolt > ok stop shooing
SpamooM > send first
illy111 > now
Gradinger > lol
illy111 > wts so funny
bulebolt > dne
bulebolt > well
SpamooM > Thanks
SpamooM > =D
dabaron > lol
illy111 > <3
bulebolt > weel can i save my ship
Gradinger > nope
SpamooM > you will have to ask the guys who are shooting you
Unfortunately we got a lot less than the 20 million isk we were asking for, but considering we never left the station and didn’t know any of the people involved I think we did quite well.
Remember: IF your ever trying to save your ship, send the money to the people who are shooting you
So yea,
i recently discovered a major problem with the dvd re-writer in my computer. I have a LITE-ON DVDRW LH-18A1H, the problem was that it wouldn’t read some of my game cd’s (it just sort of clicked and lagged the computer). After a bit of searching i found this:
http://www.liteonit.com/global/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=75
Basically my DVDRW came up as LITE-ON DVDRW LH-18A1H HL01. The bit in bold is the firmware version, thats what needs to be updated in order to fix the problem. From the link:
- Category = Optical storage
- Model Number = (mine is LH-18A1H)
Download, Patch and the DVDRW should read more more disks :) ( My current Firmware version is now HL09)
Confirmed games that now load for me that wouldn’t before:
- Supreme Commander
- Dark Messiah Might and Magic
Note: Make sure to double check the download and your DVDRW before installing as this is a firmware patch to the actual hardware.
First post ftw, Good luck!
